アキノ大統領の演説
フィリピンのアキノ大統領の演説は
外国で行う演説、また外国人向けや一部経済イベントで行う演説を除くと
フィリピン語（タガログ語）による演説が目立つ。
昨年６月末の就任演説、同７月の施政方針演説が、
冒頭の呼び掛けなどを除いてオールフィリピン語だった。
だが国内で行う演説でも、場所によってはどうも事情が違うらしい。
アキノ大統領は、セブ州で演説する時は
一転して英語を使う頻度が高いようだ。
去る16日にセブ市で行われたシヌログ祭の時の演説も
片言のセブアノ語を交えつつ、基本は英語だった。
かつて、セブ州内の学校でフィリピン語を教えることを禁じた歴史を持ち
今も「反タガログ語・反フィリピン語感情」が一部に残るといわれるセブ州。
大統領は多分、そうしたセブの事情に配慮しているのだろう。
