元日本兵 小野田少尉 －苦悩と母の祈り－
第二次大戦の時、フィリピンのルバング島の密林で
約30年過ごし、1974年に帰国した小野田寛郎少尉。
上官からの作戦解除命令なくしては終戦も信じることができなかったという
小野田氏がルパング島に派遣された時の任務とは何だったのか？
小野田氏本人が語った記事がある。
「日本本土が占領されることもあり得ると
私が所属していた陸軍中野学校関係は予測していたんです。
日本は米国に占領される。
しかし日本はアジアに亡命政権を打ち立て
米国が嫌気がさすまでゲリラ戦を継続し
有利なかたちでの講和に持ち込むというシナリオがあったんです。
ナチスに占領されたフランスの様に」
「私の任務は、いずれ日本の亡命政権が反撃を開始した暁に
ルバング島の滑走路を使い、ここを不沈空母化する。
その日のために我々が設定した地域に住民らが入り込まぬよう牽制を続け
かつこの地域に日本軍の兵士がいるのだということを
住民らを通じて外界に知らせ続けることでした」
小野田氏はその任務を30年以上にわたってまっとうし続けた。
