セブ市に住む児童の10人に1人が栄養失調だという。
特にエルミタ村では、全児童1,316人中127人（9.6％）が
平均体重以下で、31人（2.35％）が
平均体重を大きく下回っているという。

川崎汽船によると
マニラにある船員研修施設（KLMA）が
日本海事協会から電子海図情報表示装置ECDIS訓練コースが
「国際海事機関IMOにより策定された
モデルコースに則った訓練として認証された」と発表された。
ECDISは、2012年7月1日から
船舶への搭載が義務付けられている重要航海計器であり
船長と航海士に対して、ECDISの操作訓練が義務付けられている。

少年（18）が、現地警察当局に検挙されたという。
その後、山羊が死亡したため
飼い主が少年の親に損害賠償を求めた。
フィリピンには獣姦罪に対する法律がないため
少年は告訴を免れると思われる。
