大統領施政方針演説

7月28日、フィリピンのアキノ大統領施政方針演説中
「改革継続への協力を国民に訴えかけた」演説終盤で
感極まり声を詰まらせた。

「ボス（国民）の皆さん、私に国を変革するチャンスを
与えてくれたのはあなたたちです。
この挑戦を拒むことは、あなたたちが苦悩し続けるよう
私自身が手助けするようなもので、それは私の良心が許さない。
このチャンスに背を向けることは
父（故ベニグノ上院議員）と母（故コラソン元大統領）
彼らの犠牲に背を向けるようなものであり、これは絶対にあってはならない」
　
「あなたたちが、私に誠実であり続けたように
私もあなたたちに誠実であり続ける。
私たちが今、経験している変化は
我々の信念と信頼が強くある限り
我々は『フィリピン人のためなら死ぬ価値がある』
『フィリピン人のためなら生きる価値がある』
『フィリピン人のためなら戦う価値がある』ということを
