国家警察長官

このほどフィリピンの国家警察長官に就任した
ニカノール・バルトロメ氏は、その就任式で
警官の質向上を軸とした警察改革に乗り出す方針を明らかにした。

バルトロメ新国家警察長官は
信頼回復策の一環として
肥満警官を対象にしたフィットネスプログラムを行う方針を示した。
太った警官は、犯人の追跡などに支障を来すだけでなく
私腹を肥やす悪徳警官のイメージが強いことから
以前から改善が試みられていたが挫折が続いてきた。

また、バイクの乗車時に
ヘルメットの着用が義務付けられているにもかかわらず
これを無視する警官が後を絶たないことを受け
たとえ警官であっても摘発するよう通達を出した。
