在日外国人
福島第１原発事故を受けて在日外国人の「日本脱出」の動きが続く中
死者１２人が出た福島県白河市にある特別養護老人ホーム「小峰苑」では
４人のフィリピン人介護士候補が
「お年寄りを見捨てて去れない」と働き続けている。
４人は、一昨年から昨年にかけて
日本との経済連携協定（ＥＰＡ）に基づいて来日したメンバーで
フィリピンの家族からは毎日のように
「フィリピンに帰って来て」と叫ぶように電話がかかってくるが
「お年寄りがここにいる限り残る」と決めているという。
「おばあちゃんたちからチョコレートをもらったり
日本語の勉強用のノートをもらったりとすごく親切にしてもらっている。
地震も原発も怖いけど私たちだけ帰国はできない」と話している。
フィリピンでは高齢者を敬う習慣が根強く残っており
小峰苑によると、献身的な介護ぶりは「入所者にも非常に評判がいい」という。
彼女たちの悩みは日本語の勉強。
日本で働き続けるには介護福祉士国家試験に合格しなければならないが
「漢字がとても難しいし、今は勉強する余裕もない」という。
ＥＰＡによって来日したフィリピン人介護士候補は
今年２月に行われた看護師試験では
フィリピン人候補１１３人のうち１人しか合格できなかった。
