Nik Kershaw's "Me, Myself & I" tour | きなこ と ぱなっち

きなこ と ぱなっち

きなこ母と娘ぱなっちの楽しい毎日です。

I went to Nik Kershaw's Gig with my friends.

It's becoming an annual event as Matthew Bourne's ballet,
but this time Early Autumn Gig rather than Christmas Concert.

Nik came to Norden Farm (our town's small theater)!

Acoustic solo concert --
I wondered what it would sound like,
as Nik normally uses lots of Synthesizer and sounds very Electric.
But, it turned out to be "I liked it!!"

Japanese fans have come to follow Nik's tour
all the way from Japan.
It started from Louise tweeted "Nik is coming to town!" with a pic of the ticket.
Then surprisingly got replied from Japan "I'm going, too!".
" I will be staying in UK for 6 days and going to four of Nik's gigs."

What a huge fan he is!
We were looking forward to seeing him.
We thought it would be a couple of fans, but we found out it was a group of fans.

Nik, Japanese fans are waiting, you must have a tour in Japan!

Because Norden Farm is  very small theatre, stage is very close to audience.
Nik said "I can almost smell of fear."

Past two gigs, there were no seating.
I could hardly see Nik as he is short (and me, too).
This time, second row from the front,
I could see him finally!
He sang with a bit tiptoes same like old days.
Very sweet.

This gig is filled with song, talk, and Q&A.
A few extraction of his talk here.

Q: What is the secret behind "The Riddle"?

A: Nothing.

He made this song when he was very busy promoting previous album.
Irish tune came first. And then he put some sound-nice-words on it.
He recorded it with a couple of different lyrics,
but no one liked the lyrics with some meaning.
So it ended up with gibberish lyrics.

I thought so.

"Who have kids?" asked Nik.

Having kids doesn't mean you need to bring kids to the gig,
your kids will complain "
My parents were dragging me along to see Nik Kershaw..."

Eat foods prepared, put the kids in front of TV,
Using WiFi for free...
And how much are they earning?
It must be better than I'm having hard time to make music.
You might have paid to a babysitter more than tonight's tickets??

That's probably true!

There is the moment that still wakes him up at 2 o'clock in the morning with cold sweat.
That is Live Aid Concert.
I don't see any problem, but
He confessed he was forgetting lyrics.

Seeing this huge audience, I can feel how terrified and nervous he was.

By the way, this song is ranked in No. 7 for "Most depressing songs" -- apparently.

After the gig, we got autographed on out tickets.

He is a little bit taller than me. (Phew!)

There queued almost end of the queues -- Mr. Peter Cox from Go West! Bonus!!
His transformation made him totally different (as no hair remained...)
Non of us couldn't recognise him until one of Nik fans from Japan told us.
No, even we heard name, we still couldn't recognise him.
Yeah, may be he didn't change at all as he was still nice looking as before.

This is highly recommended gig for people around 50's!
