.Yerdle users can recycle unwanted household and personal items on the site, and find that blender or Apple TV they've been looking for -- and pay only the cost of shipping, between $2 and $4. As of Wednesday, Yerdle said shipping is available nationwide.The site joins a growing niche in the sharing economy -- which includes a broad range of companies that provide services using things people already own -- that encourages people to reuse items rather than make new purchases, helping consumers save money and send fewer items to the landfill. Others such as Menlo Park-based Poshmark and Santa Monica-based Tradesy offer an online platform to sell gently used clothes and accessories, while San Francisco-based Swapdom is an online community for swapping used items.Yerdle says it aims to reduce the consumption of durable consumer goods by 25 percent. Users earn credits after they give away an item and then use those credits to bid on other items on the site. The more you sell, the more you can buy; items are posted on the site for bidding for up to a week.
