windows7,64bit環境でバイナリのapache2.4をインストールしたのでメモ書きです（インストールと言っても、やった事と言えば、ファイルをダウンロードして配置しただけ）。
まず、Apache Win64 binaries and modules download から、をダウンロードして解凍し、c:\直下にApache24を配置します。
これでbin\httpd.exeを起動すれば、html等の静的ファイルなら見れるようになる。試しにhttp://localhost/でit worksが表示されればおっけー。
ただこれだとhttpd.exeのDOS窓が残ってしまい鬱陶しいので、apacheMonitorかwindowsの管理サービスから起動できるようにしたい。apacheMonitorはbin\ ApacheMonitor.exeがあるから、これを実行すればwindows画面の右下のメニュｰバーに表示される。けど、ApacheMonitorを起動してもService Statusに何一つのサービスがない。windowsの管理サービスにもない。当然と言えば当然。apacheのファイルをダウンロードして配置しただけな訳だから。
apacheをwindowsサービスとして登録するには、コマンドプロンプロからhttpd.exeを下のように実行する。
c:\Apache24\bin>httpd.exe -k install
Installing the Apache2.4 service
The Apache2.4 service is successfully installed.
Testing httpd.conf...
Errors reported here must be corrected before the service can be started.
これで、apacheがapacheMonitorやwindowsサービスから起動、停止できるようになった。ちなみに、上の登録は管理者権限のコマンドプロンプトからじゃないとできない。管理者権限がないと下のようなエラーが出る。
c:\Apache24\bin>httpd.exe -k install

(OS 5)アクセスが拒否されました。 : AH00369: Failed to open the WinNT service manager, perhaps you forgot to log in as A
