メリーが近くにいる

子供の頃、メリーという名前の犬を飼ってました。その日、好美はまだ小さいのだから、一人で散歩に行かせたら、まだ危ないんじゃないかと父が言ったのを覚えてます

父が出勤した後、母親がメリーの散歩に一緒に行ってくれると思ってました

母親が「大丈夫や、犬の散歩に着いていくなんか、面倒やわ。忙しいんや。一人で行って来いや」と、一日一個必ず食べていた菓子パンを食べて、テレビを見ながら言われて、一人で行きました

帰りにメリーは、急に私を突きとばして、車にひかれて死にました

最近、メリーが近くにいると感じてます

私に、自分を犠牲にして５０年の命を与えてくれた犬です

飼い主が欲しくなったのでしょうか、それとも、いままで私を支えてくれた犬や猫が、もうそろそろ来る頃だ、すずちゃんはエサをもらっていたママの所に帰れる、ようちゃんには帰る場所はないだろうと言ってるのか

いなくなってからも、忘れたことがないメリーは、飾らなくていい、強がりを言わなくていい、そのまま、変わらないで生きてと、言いに来たような気がします

メリーをひいて逃げた男、狭い町でしたので誰か知ってます。５０年も過ぎて引っ越してます

ひいたのが子供でなくて、もう忘れたでしょうが、私は偶然今住んでいる場所を知りました

八十歳前後、もう年寄りです

何もしなくてもあと10年ぐらいでしょう

５０年前に、メリーをひいて、逃げたから、殺してやろうかと迷ってます

父が生きてたら止めるに決まってます。父はもう死にましたし、商店街で私を護ってくれた人たちも、もういません。私が何しても悲しむ人はいません
