Hey everyone! 😊 As someone with both Italian and American roots, cooking has always been a big part of my life. My Italian heritage especially keeps me connected to the kitchen, where I find joy in whipping up delicious meals. Yesterday, I was feeling a bit bored, so I decided to channel my energy into trying out a new recipe I found online. And guess what? I ended up making some amazing homemade Pretzel Rolls! 🙌

I stumbled upon this recipe while scrolling through the MasterChef Australia page on YouTube, and it immediately caught my attention. The rolls looked so inviting, and I thought, "Why not give it a shot?" So, I did!

Here’s How I Made These Tasty Pretzel Rolls:

Ingredients:
- 4 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups of warm water
- 1 packet of active dry yeast
- 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 tablespoon of sugar
- 1 ½ teaspoons of salt
- 10 cups of water
- ⅔ cup of baking soda
- Coarse salt for sprinkling

Steps:

1.Activate the Yeast: I started by dissolving the sugar in the warm water, then added the yeast. I let it sit for about 5 minutes until it became frothy. This is always an exciting part of baking for me!

2.Mixing the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, I combined the flour, salt, and melted butter. Then, I poured in the yeast mixture and mixed everything until it formed a dough. Kneading the dough for about 5-7 minutes made it smooth and elastic—just perfect!

3. Letting It Rise: I placed the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, covered it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise for an hour in a warm spot. The dough doubled in size, and that’s when I knew it was ready.

4.Shaping the Rolls: After punching down the dough, I divided it into 12 equal pieces and shaped each into a ball. Here’s where the fun began!

5.Boiling with Baking Soda: I brought the 10 cups of water to a boil and added the baking soda. Carefully, I dropped each dough ball into the boiling water for about 30 seconds. This is what gives the Pretzel Rolls their unique texture and flavor.

6. **Baking: I placed the boiled rolls onto a lined baking sheet, sprinkled them with coarse salt, and baked them in a preheated oven at 450°F (230°C) for about 12-15 minutes until they were beautifully golden brown.

And voilà! My homemade Pretzel Rolls turned out even better than I imagined. The outside was perfectly crispy, while the inside was soft and chewy. Just look at the photo—aren’t they gorgeous? 😍
