Five life lessons I learned after being screwed over by my employer -Last month, I had a nasty experience. A would be employer told me my reference check was not positive. Apparently, someone higher-up I had worked with had many issues with me. I was quite taken aback. How could that be? I have always had a good reputation for being hardworking and sincere. Though I may not be a people person, I have consciously made an effort to maintain a cordial relationship with almost all the people I have met so far in my life. Then I remembered something that happened over a year and a half ago. And instantly, I knew who was that someone. The realization shook one of my core beliefs. That I should not speak things that could mar the reputation of someone because of a personal disagreement. That I should not speak badly about my previous employers no matter what.
