Went to church on Sunday, knowing that my fav pastor is not preaching. The guest preacher is Brian Houston, Senior Pastor of Hill Songs Church. Fyi, He looks like Nicholas Cage, but with a more glorious glow.

He actually joked that some church goers complained to him that they expected to see Pastor Prince, and was “disappointed” to see instead.. How frank can those people be!! Anyway, it is always good to hear a different perspective of God’s Love cos it is so Great.

“Could we with ink the ocean fill, And were the skies of parchment made;
Were every stalk on earth a quill, And every man a scribe by trade;
To write the love of God above, Would drain the ocean dry;
Nor could the scroll contain the whole, Tho’ stretched from sky to sky.”

The Love of God By Frederick M. Lehman

The sermon was about time…. And it spoke to me BIG TIME!

I will try to summaries the powerful sermon with my limited understanding.

Time is of God & for God. It is a gift from God for us to enjoy. And for us believers, every “time” will have a perfect purpose for God.

With time, you have seasons, seasons of lack, seasons of plentiful, but it is always in God’s Hand. And everyone and everything under this mortal world is subjected to time.

Ecc 3:1 To every thing there is a season, and a time for every purpose under the heavens:

Time can be in seconds, minutes, days and years. And God works in all. He have done mircles in seconds, minutes. Given orders in days, month & years. But try to see time as a mass collective of moments. God works in moment. Many things happen in moments.

Pastor Brian shared the following about moments

  1. it is filled with opportunities
  2. moment do not last but the impact can last for a long time
  3. Always seize your moment
  4. Moments give us stories to tell

 Ecc 9:11 I returned and saw under the sun that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favor to men of skill; but time and chance happens to them all.

Ecc 9:12 For man also does not know his time; as the fishes that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare; so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falls suddenly on them.

My biggest take from the whole sermon!!! Like a bird in a snare, flapping its wings wildly but flying no where, we too can get trap in moments of disappointment , defeat, anger & etc. I was being robbed of everything good as I was trapped in a moment. It is foolish to do so!!! I was taught by God many times!! but my emotions just refuse to let go. But God have spoken and i believe his Grace will enable me to overcome the snare!

Break free now and start to live your moments as God intended. Then you will realize, time is on your side!
