Intel Philippines and Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co.’s WiFi zone are trying to cash in on the growing demand for Ultrabook, a new notebook category characterized by the thin form factor pioneered by Apple Inc.’s Macbook Air.

Ultrabook combines high-speed performance, powered by the latest Intel processors, and fast and reliable Internet connection through WiFi Zone, said Intel country manager Ricky Banaag in an interview with GMA News Online.

“There's are very strong interest about Ultrabook among our mobile Internet users,” Banaag added.

For its part, PLDT will spend P500 with battery such as dell Inspiron 1420 battery , dell Vostro 1400 battery , dell WW116 battery , dell Vostro 1510 battery , dell T116C battery , dell XPS M1210 battery , dell CG036 battery , dell XPS M1330 battery , dell 312-0566 battery , dell XPS M1530 battery , dell TK330 battery , dell 312-0660 battery million to improve its WiFi Zone backbone, said Dan Ibarra, PLDT retail business group head.

In a marketing tie-up between Intel and PLDT launched Thursday, PLDT myDSL subscribers can get unlimited use of the WiFi Zone for P150 or P300 a month on top of the landline fee.

“But we guarantee its quality, reliability and speed,” said Ibarra.

At a base price of P70,000, the Ultrabook by Acer, Asus, Lenovo and Dell are based on Intel guidelines — including the use of Intel second-generation processors.

“Ultrabook is for all, especially for mobile professionals such as businessmen, photographers and designers who need to create photos and videos and share them on the Internet,” said.

Filipinos are enthusiastic digital consumers, with 32 million or a third of Philippines’ 96 million population connected to the Internet, Banaag noted.

Content, to a large extent, drives Internet growth the Intel country manager said. “Now, increasingly by consumers who exchange photos, videos and tweets every day… any time,” he added.

Intel research showed more than 90 percent or 29 million of 32 million Filipinos online belong to a social network.

“About 25 million Filipinos are active on Facebook,” Banaag said, adding that most Internet users are below 30 years old.

Over five million Filipinos are on Tweeter. “Pinoy tweeters are the fourth largest in Asia. We are also no. 1 in video consumption and no. 4 in blogging activity,” according to the Intel Philippines chief.

The 18-mm Ultrabook has a battery life of almost six hours and weighs less than 3 lbs
