For Today's music lesson, I introduced the children to the concepts used in loop-based electronic music-making, using Google Labs' online Song Maker.
今日の音楽の時間はオンラインでできる簡単な曲作りをしました。
I first showed the children how when you hit play, the player scrolls from left to right, sounding any notes that it encounters along the way. I also showed them how they can input notes, starting with low pitched tones at the bottom of the window, moving up to high pitches towards the top.
まずプレイボタンを押すと左から右にスクロールし、ヒットした音符が音になり流れます。
そして、音符の音の高低をマス目（上下）で作られることを説明しました。
The software allows us to sequence notes for one melodic instrument (for example, a piano or a violin) and two drums (like a kick and a snare).
このソフトでは楽器の組み合わせができます。（ピアノやヴァイオリン、それとドラムのリズムなど）
We spent some time experimenting with trying to recreate our favorite melodies, and also improvising - trying different ideas, and listening to how the looping sections of music evolved with each addition or removal.
自由に曲とリズムを組み合わせて音楽を作ってみました。いろいろ楽器も変えて音の変化も楽しめました。もうちょっと音符を足したほうがいいかな、テンポを早くしたほうがいいかな、など、子供たちは集中して音楽作りをしていました。
The tool is really well designed for kids to explore, but by using my musical knowledge to gently guide them, I felt like their compositions truly blossomed.
このソフトはカラフルで子供も使いやすく音楽を楽しめるので音楽の感覚が刺激されたように感じ取れました。
