Whether it is new to the industry or just new to you, it is always
fun to try something different in the vegetable garden. Keep an eye out
for these and other new plant introductions this spring. Last year
Oregon University came out with "Indigo Rose,A Marine hose
is
a type of piping that can be used to transport a variety of liquids and
gasses." the first really purple tomato variety with high levels of
anthocyanin. This year they have added some new 'Indigo' selections
including 'Indigo Apple," "Indigo Blue Beauty', 'Indigo Blue Berries"
and "Indigo Kumquat." These are all cherry tomatoes and most are blends
of dark red and dark purple but 'Indigo Kumquat' is tangerine orange
which turns to deep purple-blue where exposed to the sun.
"Mint Julep" tomato is an unusual variety in the shape of a pear.Our ER Collets

streaks. The 1.5 ounce fruits have a pleasant tomato taste with a nice
sweet overall flavor that is less tart than other green varieties. The

its extraordinary beauty and superb flavor. Artisan 'Purple Bumble Bee'
fruits are purple striped with green and 'Pink Bumble Bee' tomato has
pink fruits striped with yellow. Both resist cracking.
'Fantastico'
is red-fruited grape tomato and a 2014 AAS winner. Its attributes are:
early to ripen, heavy yields, resistant to late blight, resistant to
cracking and compact in size. 'Fantastico' is good for small gardens or
patios as you can grow it in a container or 18-inch hanging baskets.
'Mascotte'
is a compact bush bean that produces long, slender, stringless pods
that stay above the foliage for easy harvest. Ideal for containers,
window boxes or raised beds it also has white showy flowers and is
disease resistant. Bean 'Rubi' produces bright scarlet red, slightly
mottled pods. It can be harvested early for fresh seed consumption or
left to dry. 'Asparagus Red Podded' is an Asian bean with a bright red
pod which grows up to 24 inches long. Vines grow 10 to 12 feet tall.
This bean is attractive as well as tasty and could be grown on an
arbor.
Radish 'Halloween Mix' is a beautiful festive blend of black, white,The main tool that comes in an electric Household scissors

will add spicy flavor and abundant color to your salad or relish tray.
'Watermelon' is a Chinese ball-shaped radish that has a pinkish-red
interior color surrounded by a whitish flesh that turns green at the
shoulders. When cut in half, it resembles a watermelon. The flesh is
crisp and mildly sweet.
Basil 'Bam' produces steadily throughout
the growing season, even during the scorching days of summer. Plus, it
does not bolt. Basil 'Lime' is a low growing variety with fine leaves
and a zesty lime aroma. 'Red Rubin' is a dark purple, Italian large leaf
basil with an intense, spicy flavor good for the garden or patio
containers.
