This is a real story.

This happened when I was a first-year student in graduate school in the UK. At the end of the Fall Term, I had a test in “Linguistics" approaching.

I felt a bit worried about the “Syntax" part of the test, so I asked a PhD student who lived on the same floor as me for help. His major was Syntax. He said he was happy to help me with the test.

A few days before the test, I went to his room and found two Greek ladies there. They were my classmates and wanted him to help them like me.

Then, his “lecture" started. The Ph.D. student tried his best to teach us. We listened attentively, but syntax was still difficult for us. He explained again, and we, too, worked hard, but still, syntax was difficult.

Finally, one of the Greek students said, “Oh, it's all Greek to me."
