As women's rights are being highlighted around the globe, actress Cate Blanchett took the helm at the Cannes Film Festival as president of the jury for the coveted Palme d'Or award. On May 12, Blanchett led a group of 82 women working in the film industry in a protest against gender inequality and in a call for equal opportunities in cinema.
