cut out for～は、特に人の性格が職種や環境に「適している、向いている」という表現で使われますが、この語源としては、服を作るときの布の裁断の時の表現で、直訳としては「～に合わせて裁断されている」です。そしてそこから転じて今の「向いている」という意味で使われるようになった。…らしい。
