小さな水上飛行機に乗り、氷河の山脈上空を低く飛んでいくと、100メートル、あるいは50メートルくらいしか離れていないのでしょうか、そんな間近に見る氷河は、信じられない姿を、本当にたくさん見せてくれました。
海に崩れ落ちる氷河、絶壁の氷河、山を走る氷河、山上の氷原、氷河が解けて滝になる、裂けた氷肌、海水面に映る氷河、山は永久凍土か、流氷と浮氷、エメラルドグリーンの湖、三角州、17歳のメキシコの少女はブッシュ・パイロット、などの映像が脳裏のスクリーンにはっきりと映写されます。それぞれの魅力をブログの中で、うまく表現できるといいのですが・・・、とにかく氷河は凄いです。
I viewed so many diverse shapes of glaciers, from the low sky in a small plane, that I took about 500 photos of them or more. Many of them are very attractive, which I can paint clearly in my mind, even now.

アラスカの旅の目的は、Captain Cookが探検したプリンス・ウィリアム湾に流れ落ちる氷河と流氷を見ることにありました。
氷河の観光船で湾内周遊が一般的かもしれませんが、天気が変わりやすいアラスカでもあり、アンカレッジ市街から観光船のある港まで行くのにけっこう時間が掛かる、ということもあり、やはり水上飛行機で空中遊覧しました。
インターネットで調べ、アンカレッジ市街に近い、Lake Hood 湖畔にある、Regal Air 社の氷河観光フライトを見付けました。・・・とはいえ、毎日アンカレッジの天気予報を見ると変わり易い天気なので、日本を出発する前に予約しない方がよさそうでした。
2016年も18年も、インターネットで申込みしないで、アンカレッジ国際空港到着後タクシーでRegal Air 社の事務所に走り、天気とフライト状況を相談してから申込みしました。
One of the purposes of my journey to Alaska was to observe glaciers and drifting ice in Prince William Sound , close to Anchorage. A flight over mountains with glaciers in great variety was privieded by a flight sightseeing company Regal Air , which is located along Lake Hood near Anchorage International Airport.
It was not good to book a glacier observing seaplane flight because the weather around Anchorage was very changeable,even the forecast also changed almost every day, therefore.
Knowing the unstable weather, upon arriving at Anchorage Airport, I asked a taxi driver to drive me to the compny's office.
On the occasion in 2018, I visited its office and reserved a flight, as before.
While we talked about my plan, I showed them my T-shirt, with the company's seaplane and logotype printed on, which I had bought two years before and was now wearing as the underclothes, saying “ Look at this T-shirt I bought on my last coming two years ago, ” which made all the staff there amused and laughed joyfully together.
昨年、2018年はReagal Air の事務所で、ちょっと楽しい悪戯をしました。
女性1人、男性1人が事務所で働いている所で、「氷河観光飛行の申込みに来ました。2年前にも来たんです」 と言いながら上着をお腹の方からたくし上げてインナーとして着ていたTシャツを見せました。前回の時に買ったもので、Reagal Air 社のロゴと飛行機イラストが美しくプリントされたもので・・・これを見ながら３人で喜び、笑ってしまいました。
事務所前の大きな湖 Lake Hood は飛行場です。100メートルくらいでしょうか、Reagal Air の飛行機が桟橋を離れ、水道を走ると左折して滑走路（水上の！）に入ります。
上空から見ると、滑走水路には中央分離のグリーン・ベルトが見えます。・・・面白いことに、右は離陸ではなく離水専用に、左が着水と離水両用に使い分けされており、大きなフロートを付けた飛行機が飛び上がる瞬間を、目の前に見ることが出来ます。
ナマズのような、大きく重そうな輸送機（多分）も、どうにか空中に飛び上がって行きました。
The office is on the Lake Hood . As the plane taxies forward perhaps 100 meters away from the jetty, it turned left to the runway for departure.
There are two runways in the same water passage, separated by the green partition at the center. The right one is for taking off and the other for both taking off and landing (watering?) on , basically.
While I was taxiing along the water way for departure, a large gray seaplane was about to pull the seemingly heavy body upward into the sky.

（友達の絵描きさんが水上飛行機のフロートを見て、ミサイルを装備しているのか、と不思議そうでした？）

水上飛行場の湖はアンカレッジ国際空港のすぐ近くにあるので、上空からはアンカレッジの市街がはっきりと眺められます。
水上飛行機に乗っていて、翼の下に輪の付いたロープがついていることに気付き不思議でした。・・・しかし、フライトが終わって桟橋に着いたとき、このロープは飛行機を係留するために使われていることが判明しました。
・・・面白いことに、水上飛行機はいつもロープを付けたまま飛んでいるんですね。
The airport on the lake for seaplanes is located near Anchorage International Airport. From the sky over there, the Downtown of Anchorage City can be viewed perfectly.
There is a wonder, why every seaplane carries a pair of ropes, being attached onto the bottom of the wings, with a ring at the tip of the rope. ・・・ they are actually used to anchor the plane at the jetty, before their office.
They do not give any wrong effects on the flying plane.
