I won a Mists of Pandaria beta key last weekend, and when I went to plug in my beta key and download the test realm I noticed there was a free game on my account. Blizzard has 3 major games: World of Warcraft, Diablo and StarCraft. Diablo III was avaliable for activation so I thought what the hey, give it a try. I'm not familiar with Diablo too much, never played and wasn't interested for a couple reasons. It's just most of Act 1 up until the first boss which isn't a bad deal.
What I Like:
-the graphics are really good for a third person RPG. Everything from character models to environments and spell effects are really amazing.
-I like the Stash box, where you can store what you collect (armour and such) and it's easily accessible to all your characters. No constantly mailing between characters.
-the gold you collect in-game is avaliable to ALL characters to use. Characters don't collect individual amounts.
-achievements mostly register across all characters so you have an easier time doing lengthy achievements. Compared to WoW's current achievement system this is a blessing, although Blizzard has said that Warcraft's system will be similar, which is a smart move.
-voice actors. They're all amazing.
What I Don't Like:
-lack of character customization. You can't change your character's physical attributes at all, and so far the armour doesn't have a whole lot of variety, even with dyes that are avaliable later in the game.
-having the movement button and an attack button bound to the same button can sometimes make moving about difficult, especially when you're trying to get out of a sticky situation. I'm going to see if I can rebind one.
-the female Barbarian and female Monk have very similar accents which comes across as unimaginative. I'm going through all the males right now, but I'm hoping the male Monk and male Barbarian don't sound similar. It's lazy.
Demon Hunter seems to be my favourite class, though I've played all five classes. They're all quite good, fighting styles are diverse and all require different tactics which I love. It gets boring when classes play too similar. Each class has its own unique backstory to bring it into the game and shows off their personality. Barbarians love their war, Demon Hunters are vengeance-driven, Witch Doctors and Monks are spiritual in their own ways and wizards are just plain arrogant lol Well, not that arrogant but...they're very proud!
I'll do a pics post later.
