Good evening.
I would like to write my thoughts on Paul Weller's new album, ‘66’, which was released today.
In slight contrast to ‘On Sunset’, released in 2020, which had a gorgeous, cutting-edge pop sound that seemed to have been created to soothe our darkened souls after the Corona disaster, ‘Fat Pop’, released the following year, is a little more minimalist than the previous album, ‘On Sunset’, but has a more rock-oriented style.
This album, ‘66’, was named after Paul Weller, who will reach the age of 66 tomorrow, but it still has a youthful and fresh style that makes it hard to believe that it is music created by a great man who has reached 66 years of age.
The sound is full of variety, with some songs being more aggressive and rock-oriented, while others are more lyrical and acoustic.
What is also remarkable is that Paul Weller has remained at the forefront of the international rock scene for over 40 years, but his 'song power' has never weakened and his song-orientated style continues to evolve with each album, which is astonishing. The quality of the music is very high throughout the album.
The songs throughout the album are of the highest quality and prove once again that Paul Weller is still one of the most important figures on the British music scene, alongside the likes of Noel Gallagher, Bernard Butler, Edgar Jones, Johnny Marr, Liam Gallagher and John Squire.
It is a work that gives us great hope for mankind itself, that even at the age of 66, a man can still create musical masterpieces of this caliber.
