=====極東軍事裁判に提出された文書=====
1946年6月18日に極東軍事裁判のためのフィッチの文書が提出された。
場所はわからないが、おそらく東京だと思う。
文書は、自分の経歴等と、1937年12月24日付のフィッチの手紙の抜粋や言い換えになる。
その抜粋、言い換えの部分は以下になる。これもベイツが編集したものだと思う。
手紙におけるベイツかもしれないと思う行に当たるものは太字にした。
また、［？］は該当する記述が基本的に見つからないもので、したがってベイツによるものだと思う。
［３５ c-1. 22日］は、ある意味ベイツ的に思わなくもないが、また同時にベイツではない気がする、と、手紙において思った記述に該当するものになる。
1946年6月18日 フィッチの文書
［２ a.］Many hundreds of innocent civilians are taken out before your eyes to be shot or used for bayonet practice and you have to listen to the sound of the guns that are killing them. ［１３ b. 13日についての1］It seems to be the rule here that anyone who runs must be shot or bayonetted. ［２１ b. 15日についての2］We happened to be beside the military of War at the time, and it was all too evident that execution was going on hundreds of poor disarmed soldiers with many innocent civilians among them.
［２３ b. 15日についての4］On December 15. I saw approximately 1300 men, all in civilian clothes, just taken from one of our camps near our headquarters, lined up and roped together in groups of about 100 by soldiers with fixed bayonets. In spite of my protests to the commanding officer, they were marched off to be shot. ［３０ c-1. 19日の1］December 19 was a day of complete anarchy. Several big fires mere raging, started by the soldiers, and more are promised. ［？］The American flag was torn down in a number of places. ［３１ c-1. 19日の2］The military have no control over the soldiers.
［３２ c-1. 20日の1］Monday. December 20, vandalism and violence continued unchecked. All Taiping Poad, the most important shopping street in the city, was in flames. I saw many Japanese army trucks being loaded with the loot which they were taking from the shops before setting fire to a building. I drove next to the Y. M. C. A. which was already in flames, evidently fired only a short time previously. That night I counted fourteen fires from my window, some of them covering considerable areas.
［３６ c-1. 22日］The Japanese observe no system in seizing people from our camps. Callouses on hands or cropped heads are proof sufficient that the man was once a soldier, and a sure death warrant. ［？］Practically all of our camps have been entered time and again by bands of soldiers who have taken whom they willed for shooting.
［３５ c-1. 22日］On December 22, 1937, I saw about fifty corpses in some ponds a quarter of a mile east of my office. All were dressed in civilian clothes, most of them with hands bound behind their backs, and one with the top half of his head cut completely off. ［？］Subsequently I saw hundreds of bodies of Chinese, mostly men but a few women, in a similar condition, in ponds, on the streets, and in houses.

［２１ b. 15日についての2］は、フィッチが書いていると思うが、冒頭のベイツと同様の記述をすることをベイツに頼まれるなどして書かかれたのではないか、と考えた箇所になる。

［３５ c-1. 22日］は、手紙において、この二行目以降は、フィッチだと思いもするが、ベイツなのかもしれないが、ベイツではないような気がする、などと考えた、よくわからない箇所になる。
この箇所について、それぞれについて並べると、次のようになる。

手紙における類似の記述として、以下のものがある。
①c-1.日記的 19日の1（第30段落）の後ろの二行 ベイツ？
There are still many corpses on the streets, all of them civilians as far as we can see.
しかし、手紙①c-1.日記的 19日の1（第30段落）の「, all of them civilians as far as we can see」と、① c-1. 22日（第35段落）の「All obviously civilians,」は、同じではないと思う。
① c-1. 22日（第35段落）の該当する記述は、ベイツ的にも思えるが、この表現のために、ベイツではない気がすると思った、という箇所になる。
また、だから、つまりこの表現のために、⑤においては削られているのではないか、とも思った。①c-1.日記的 19日の1（第30段落）の記述は⑤にもある。
提出文書においては、〈All were dressed in civilian clothes,〉と記されている。
①c-1. 22日（第35段落）のこの記述がベイツによるものなのかは結局よくわからない。

手紙における「We know there were a numbers of ex-soldiers among them,」が削られ、「all 1,5000 [1,300] men」が〈1300 men, all in civilian clothes〉と記されている。
ついでに、また、提出文書冒頭の記述は、数千人の武器を捨てた兵士、という記述が省かれている。

この〈1300 men, all in civilian clothes〉とか、〈All were dressed in civilian clothes,〉というような表現は、マギーの提出文書にも見られるし、発言においてもあったと思う。

①では、どこにというのは把握していないが、my officeという表現が複数回出てくると思う。
そのなかには、ベイツが書いている段落や行、そのなかにあると思うようなものもある。
例えば①b. 14日についての2（第17段落）などは、ベイツが書いているのかもしれないと思う。
その三行目に、my officeという記述が見られる。

この話についての記述はフィッチだと思うが、考えてみると一行目がやたらと長い気がする。二行目のstart the turbines and have electricityも細かい気がする。
Mr. Wu, engineer in power plant which is located at Hsiakwan, brought us the amazing news that 43 of the 54 employees who had so heroically kept the plant going to the very last day and had finally been obliged to seek refugee in the International Export Co., a British factory on the river front, had been taken out and shot on the ground that the power plant company was a government concern - which it was not. Japanese officials have been at my office daily trying to get hold of these very men so they could start the turbines and have electricity. [...].
長いというと、フィッチが書いていると思う段落である①b. 12日についての3（第12段落）の一行目なども長く、また細かく感じられ、違和感を感じもしたが、内容的にこの段落はフィッチだろうと思う。
また、ベイツと思う行にもheadquartersという記述はあるし、フィッチと思う行にもheadquartersという記述はある。
