It was chilly in the morning, and the windowscreen of my car was frozen. I arrived late to work, because I had to wait until the wiper get rid of ice.
4th Jan was 2007's first working day for me-first three days of the New year are off for almost all Japanese salaried worker though national holiday is only 1st Jan. There were fewer cars on the road, fewer businessmen in the train, because many Japanese also take time off on 4th and 5th, and they start work on 9th Jan-8th Jan is a national holiday.
Though there were also fewer colleagues in my office, we had some event of the New year. At first, we went the rounds of courtesy calls to top official. Then institute head made New year speech. Top officials had a New year party in the evening.
As for me, I left my office earlier than usual and I went New year's bargain of the departmentstore. I bought 2007's diary and shirts.
