11/14に届いたFat Wreck NewsとOfficial siteに載っている、Ｆａｔ Ｍｉｋｅのレポートです。
今回は、メキシコシティで1回しかショウをやっていないからツアーとは言えないけど、すごくクレイジーだった。
3万人の動員が予想される大規模の野外フェスで、ＮＯＦＸは98年以来初の参加だった。
少し寒くなりそうで、その上昼も夜も雨が降っていた。ＮＯＦＸの出番の1時間くらい前、バリケードの一部が壊れた。
50人くらいの機動隊が現れて、ステージと観客の間にぎゅうぎゅうになって立っていた。
俺達が最初の曲をやったら、残りのバリケードが壊れた。観客がステージに押し寄せて、ステージの前の部分が壊れた。
ものすごい雨で、警察とキッズはみんないっしょにどろどろにごちゃまぜになっていた。ステージは壊れてるし。
プロモーターが俺達に演奏をやめるように言った。”ショウは終わり”って言った。俺達がみんなに後ろに下がるように言って、
10分後くらいにみんな後ろに下がった。それで、演奏を始めた。警察がショウは終わりだって言うから、ステージから
ひきずり降ろされる前にもう1曲演奏した。で、その場がとうとう解散となってしまった。キッズたちは怒った。アメリカ人と違って、メキシコ人は、
どうやら警察とけんかするのを気にしてないみたいだ、本当に喧嘩っ早い。結局のところ、ごくふつうのメキシコでのショウだったってことだ。
もっと長く演奏できなかったのは残念だけど、一番おもしろくて、クレイジーで、短いショウだった。Thank you. Fat Mike
Well, you can't really call one show in Mexico City a tour, but it was pretty crazy. We hadn't played there since 1998 and this was a big outdoor festival with 30,000 people expected. It was gonna be cool, then it rained all day and all night. About an hour before we were supposed to go on, a portion of the barricade collapsed. Then about 50 riot cops showed up. They all crammed in between the stage and the crowd. We play our first song and the rest of the barricade collapsed. The crowd swarms to the stage and the front of the stage collapses. It's pouring rain, cops and kids are all mashed together, the stage is collapsing, and the promoter tells us to stop playing. "Shows over", he says. We tell everyone to back up and they do after about 10 minutes. Then we play another song. Then the cops tell us the shows over, and we play one more before they drag us off the stage. Then the place really fell apart. Kids were pissed and unlike Americans, Mexicans apparently don't mind fighting the cops. It got real ugly. All in all, it was a pretty normal Mexican show. Too bad we didn't get to play longer, but it was the funnest, craziest, shortest show we've had in a long time. Muchos gracias, Gordo Miguel
