With a blankie in one hand and a Birkin in the other, Tom Cruise's daughter Suri is leading the way for under-five fashionistas.
Despite the latest figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics showing a continued slump in the department store, clothing and footwear sectors, designer children's wear boutiques are reporting a good turnover.
Rachel Moor-Bryce, owner of exclusive children's store Little Kisses in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley,burberry outlet, told The Sunday Mail: "We often have everyday mums shopping for something unique for their kids.
"The feedback I get is that mums are no longer interested in following the latest fashion for themselves, they get more of a kick putting their dollars towards something cute and quality for their children," she said.
"I have a friend that likes to put her kids in nice clothes for kindergarten so the teachers get a good impression of the child and treat them well.
"People are very critical of the Suri Effect and think she is growing up too quickly and wears ridiculous clothes but I think that is a bit harsh."
Designer Burberry skinny jeans for toddlers at $145 and the latest nautical blazers from Boss at $245 are just some of the looks for boys.
Victoria and David Beckham's boys Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz are global trendsetters for youngsters.
Little Kisses customer Belinda Barrett, from nearby New Farm, told The Sunday Mail her four-year-old son Alexander already had his own sense of style.
"I love fashion and that flows on to Alexander,burberry, " she said.
Vicki Burns, the owner of top-notch children's store Mama's Home,burberry bags, at Windsor in Brisbane, agrees that high-end children's fashion is not exclusive to the rich and famous.
