I have to take exception with pink sports jerseys for professional sports teams. Unless a team's colors are pink, jerseys shouldn't be pink. Nor should anything else-T-shirts, hats, or jackets.
A pink jersey for team that doesn't have pink as a color is akin to wearing a sports jersey with a player's name, but with a different number, or a different team. People-fans-buy and wear jerseys to show their support for a team. The fact that the jersey is in the team's colors lets everyone seeing it know which team they're a fan of.
At a game, wearing your team's jersey builds camaraderie, or points out the 'enemy.' In the stands, the team's colors show the team how much support it has. You expect to see large numbers of that color during a home game, and it's encouraging www.footballvikingsshop.com/WOMENS-JARED-ALLEN-JERSEY.html to see your colors at an away game, too. And the way you do that is by seeing your team colors in the stands.
But pink....those people aren't showing up as supporters, and, in fact, they're kind of generic. A pink jersey Jared Allen Jersey could be for any team. What player is going to feel encouraged by seeing pink in the stands, not knowing who it's for?
It seems to me that if you're a fan enough of a team to wear its jersey, you should wear the jersey in the team's colors. If the only way you'll wear a jersey is if it's pink, then you're not a fan. And if you're not a fan of a team, why pretend you are and bother wearing a jersey?
Now some of you might be saying, there's a demand for them, and that's why the teams have them. I get it, sports is a business. Law of Supply and Demand, and all that. I don't care. It's just wrong.
To be fair, I must say I know the pink jerseys are officially licensed, and cost as much as regular jerseys, and the team gets its share of the money from them, so buying and wearing one is, in its own sad way, supporting the team, but I still just can't accept it.
I'd rather that those people who wear pink jerseys to a game, or out in public, leave them at home. They just don't say fan to me. It says pretender or wannabe, but not fan. If you're a fan, you should be supporting your team by wearing team colors.
Maybe I'm way off base here, but it also seems like the pink sports jerseys just sort of perpetuate the stereotype that women aren't really into sports. That they care more about fashion or how www.footballvikingsshop.com they look.
But since the NFL, MLB, NHL, and NBA all offer pink jerseys and other team clothing, I guess I'll just have to grin and bear it. And keep wearing sports jerseys in my team's colors.
