10:Objection against Japanese Education
I heard before that Japan is one of the most educated country, and I thought so. However, after coming U.S. to study, I have doubted it. In Japan, many people think that if one graduates university, his or her life will be guaranteed. I.e., people think that "joining" to university can be enough to get a job. They don't care what one did in the university. Also, it is said that Japanese university is difficult to enroll, but it's easy to graduate. Then, many students in Japanese university don't spend much time to study, but spend lots of time to play. Since they know that they can get a job at least if they graduate. Some of my friends in Japanese university work really hard on their study, but others don't. Even few of them don't study at all if they know their class doesn't need them to take exams. I don't know why Japanese culture allows such a ridiculous "education" system.
This strange system is not started on the university. I think it's started on the high school education. What we study in high school is only for passing the entrance exams. I was really interested in the computer when I was in the high school, but I couldn't study it in high school since many high schools didn't have a class for programing. Then I needed to study it by myself, but it was tough to do since I didn't have a friend who was interested in computer field. We couldn't learn what we wanted to learn in high school, but we needed to learn boring stuffs for entrance exam for the university. I heard that in American high school, students can select their courses, and they can learn what they want. I'm really jealous of it. I know that what I studied is needed for academic education, but for the people having interests in the specific area like me, high school education is boring and useless. It's detour.
Also, many teachers in high school want their students to go famous university. To make high school famous! I was really disappointed with these dirty adults. They teach us for their self-complacency. "We are not items to make you big." Besides, for entrance exam of university, we needed to study really many things. What I studied in mathematics in my high school when I was 2nd grade is exactly same as what I studied in math last semester. It seems that Japanese study harder that American, but when students graduate, their level of intelligence is same, or American do better than Japanese.
School in America is for the people who want to study, but it in Japan is not. Many students in Japan enroll school because they think that graduating school is a way to be recognized as intelligent person. It's really ridiculous. They go to school not for learning. This Japanese wrong thinking should be corrected, otherwise, Japan will become one of the uneducated country.
