東芝が,『HD-DVD』の開発を終了するらしい.

このニュース,当然ながらここ数日間世間を騒がせてますね.

これで次世代DVDの規格は,Sony陣営の『Blue-Ray』に統一されるわけです.


でもこの一連の騒動,東芝陣営とSony陣営の技術争いってより,ハリウッドの映画会社が作った出来レースだった気が.

ワーナーがいきなり他の映画会社に倣って東芝を裏切ったのも,裏で何かあったのではないですかねぇ?

ま,規格が統一されてないばかりに新世代DVDの映画ソフト売上が悪かったんですから,ね・・・

Toshiba announced that it will abandon developing "HD-DVD".

As might be expected, this news caused great flutter.

At least, it sets a standard for the next generation of DVD media to be "Blu-Ray"developed by Sony.


However, I wonder if this tussle, especially in the closing stage of this duel, was controlled by the film ditribution companies in Hollywood.

I think that the suddnenly change of policy by Warner Co. (HD-DVD to Blu-Ray) last autumn showed the intent of Hollywood.


But, since there were two standards for next generation DVDs, the sales of movies were weak...
