This is the bento I made for K on the day before we hopped on a plane for NY.
I almost forgot to post.
Now I have to remember what I made...
You might think that this bento misses a main dish,
but you are supposed to eat rice (underneath) with the toppings,
each of them were cooked in soysauce and sugar or salt.
Thus the balance of rice and dishes are always just right.
Toppings are often chicken meat, scrumbled egg, and green vegetables.
This bento is somewhat popular, even has a name; Soboro Bento,
and you can find in convenience stores.
K likes this bento, and I make this for him once in a while.

Today's Neko Ben

-rice with toppings (chicken, scrumbled egg, stirfried green pepper with seaweed)
-burdock root and carrot, coocked with red pepper, soysauce and sugar
-sweetened beans
-salted cucumber

おっと、忘れておりましたが、10/31のお弁当です。
そぼろ弁当は夫も大好きなので、鶏ひき肉の良いのがあったら買っておいて、冷凍しておきます。
そして、お弁当のおかずに困った時なんかに引っ張り出してつくります。
どのおかずもそうですが、飽きないように、忘れた頃に作るようにしています。
この「忘れた頃」という頃合がとても難しいのですが…。

そぼろ弁当(鶏ひき肉、卵、ピーマンとコンブの炒め物)
金平ごぼう
煮豆
キュウリの漬物
