How good were NBA superstars in college part 2. Carmelo Anthony is one of the NBA’s most prolific scorers and best players in college history. Being the #1 ranked player out of high school, Carmelo played one year for Syracuse. In his only season in 2002 to 2003, he was the best freshman in the country averaging 22 points and 10 rebounds all while leading Syracuse to a 30-5 record. In the final four against Texas, Melo scored 33 points, the most ever by a freshman. Melo helped Syracuse win their first ever NCAA championship by putting up a double double with 20 points and 10 rebounds to beat Kansas. He was named the tournaments most outstanding player and won the Big East freshman of the year as well as the NCAA freshman of the year. Melo was drafted in the famous 2003 NBA draft to the Nuggets and his #15 is now retired at Syracuse. Follow for part 3.
