Nba role players in high school part 4. Michael Porter Jr is just a spot up shooter for the Nuggets now but he was once one of the best high schoolers in the nation, drawing comparisons to Kevin Durant. As a junior, MPJ led his team to a Moussiri state championship and later that summer, won the EYBL championship for Spokan Elite alongside Trae Young. For his senior season, MPJ transferred to Nathan Hale high school in Seattle and showed the world why he was the 2nd ranked player in the nation. That season, MPJ averaged 36 and 14, leading his team to a 29-0 record and the Washington state championship. He played in the Nike hoop summit and won MVP in the Mcdonalds all american game. Although many thought he could’ve been the 1st pick in the draft, a back injury in college greatly diminished his draft stock. Nonetheless, MPJ went 14th to the Nuggets and the rest is history.
