My last two posts were about more...unusual beers, so I thought I might write a few posts about beers that are a little bit more suited towards beginners. First up is a Japanese beer from brewery Iwakura in Iwate!
Brewery: Iwakura (Japan)
Beer: Caramel Ale
Style: Spice Ale
Bitterness: About 30 IBU
Funk: 3/10
ABV: 7%
Drunk at: Goodbeer Faucets in Shibuya
Thoughts: Dark reddish/amber color with little to no head. Nose is smoky sweet, remniscent of roasted chestnuts. Tastes like malted chocolate and caramel.
Recommended for: This beer is hoppier than the Usual Suspects of the major Japanese beers, but not enough so to be unapproachable. While I would say it's still too 'beer'-y for someone who doesn't like beer at all, the relatively low bitterness, combined with the unusual smoky flavors makes this a perfect beer for someone who wants to venture out of the typical Asahi/Ebisu/Kirin/Sapporo/Suntory that dominate the beer market in Japan.

さて、前に書いたレビューはもうちょっと。。変わったビールについて書いたので、もうちょっと初心者向けのビールについて書こうと思っています。最初は岩手の「いわくら」というブルワリーのビールです！

飲んだところ：渋谷のGoodbeer Faucets
感想：色は濃いめの琥珀色、泡はほとんどない。香りは焼き栗のようなスモーキースイート。味は「ミロ」のような麦芽チョコやキャラメル。
どういう人におすすめ：このビールは日本５大ブランドのビールよりホップがあるが、初心者に難しいほどではない。そもそもビール好きじゃない人にとしてまだビールっぽすぎるかもしれないが、定番のアサヒやサッポロ以外にどんなビールがあるを開拓したい人には完璧。
評価: 6.5/10
