(Translated by Michiko Okuyama)AnalysisThis lyric issaying that songs canmake people live, asthe two lines"So that the songs with which we can pass the night willnever die" and "So that tears will never stream down thewrist again" express. This "die" suggests aperson's death, and "tears" and "stream down the wrist" seems tobea metophor of wrist cutting. On the other hand, "Setagaya" isadistrictin Tokyo, which has Shimokitazawa area, where there are many small theaters and places for amateur bands' performances. Young people who follow their dreams are there. There arenotmanylyrics that refer to theliterature ("bungaku") and poems ("shi"). Forthese two words, I think this songisabout musicians aspoets. The situation written in this song is hopeless, because"the young people"have"lostsight of their dreams" and "the important relationship"which the protagonist might have hadwith his partner "has become sand with time".The protagonist personifies"Hopelessness", talking to him in apostrophe and seems to have lost his hope and feel abandoned. But he also wishes he"could have killed her lonliness saying some kind words that nobody knows" and says "whatwe lackis always not talentbut affection", which indicates that he doesn't give uphis hope that there will be kindness andaffection in the world. And in spite of all thelost things, he sings "We are beautiful",the phrase with whichhe accepts the way we are.The last line"To be able to behumanseventomorrow,we're collecting love" shows thathe wants to keep humanity and believes in love.In this song, poetry and humanity areconnected. And this is a songforpeople who believe inpossibility of songs and inkindness and love of human beings.Italso shedsthe light on the worthof poetswho keepalive words of songs, suffering and struggling. The title "Young Adult" must come from a filmdirected by Jason R. Reitman (2011). This filmis about a ghost-writer of young adult novels who lives in a Big city and goes backtoher hometown. I suppose itsmain messageis: "Live as the way you are, instead ofbeingaprudent adult".The theme of the passionto live as a human iscommon toboth of them. The band's name consists of two elements:"Macaroni" (a kind of pasta) might mean foodto live, in other words, bread, and "Empitsu" might representto write something like poemsor what you think.《Man cannot live by bread alone.》We need poetry, music and artto survive.I love this kindsong and believe in poertry.I would appreciate it if you could see thisvideo, too."Verse~詩行~" - Michiko/a Lyrics: Michiko Okuyama Music&Arrangement: s.c.Michikaすべての詩、詩人、そして、詩の存在を信じる人のために。Verse ~詩行~ - Michiko/a (español/English/한국어 Subtitles)この角を曲がったら/美しい姿で 待っててLyrics & Vocal: Michiko Okuyama(奥山迪子)Music & Arrangement: s.c.Michika(緒里原洋子)Edgar Allan Poe's "Annabel Lee" Poetry analysis: Shikoda, Mit...youtu.beThank you!
