4月に日本へ一時帰国した際、トルコ航空を使用し、イスタンブール経由で成田に行きました。ニューヨークからイスタンブールまでは約10時間、イスタンブールから成田まで約11時間の計21時間のフライトでした。しかも座席選択料金が1便あたり90ドルほどしたので、座席選択をしないで行ったら、両便とも真ん中席を割り当てられました。経由地のイスタンブールでは、乗り換え時間が10時間ほどあったので、街中を観光してきました。トルコ航空もイスタンブールも楽しかったですが、乗り物で寝れない私にとって31時間はとてつもなく長かったです。

When I returned to Japan temporarily in April, I went to Narita via Istanbul using Turkish Airlines. It took about 10 hours from New York to Istanbul and 11 hours from Istanbul to Narita, so the total flight time was about 21 hours. To make matters worse, I didn't reserve my seat in advance because the reservation fee was about 90$ for one flight, so my seat was assigned in the middle of the row on both flights. In Istanbul, where I visited for transit, I had 10 hours of layover time. I went downtown for sightseeing. Although both Turkish Airlines and Istanbul were very good, 31 hours felt very long because I couldn't sleep in vehicles.
