ローマを旅していた時、スリに合いそうになりました。そのときは地下鉄のラッシュアワーで、私が乗っていた車両はとても混んでいました。私がドアのそばでドアの方を向いて立っていると、女の子が後ろにスペースがあるにもかかわらず私の前に張り付いたのです。彼女の腕にはコートがかかっていて、手が隠れていました。しかし、私は彼女がスリだとは思いませんでした。なぜなら彼女は13〜14歳くらいの少女で上品な服を着ており、ブロンドヘアーの白人だったからです。旅行者を狙って盗みを働くのはジプシーだという固定観念があったのです。そのため油断をしてしまい、気付いたのは彼女が逃げた後でした。その後私は自分の鞄を引いた時に何かに鞄が引っ掛かっているような変な感覚を思い出しました。多分彼女は私の鞄を開けようとしていたのでしょう。
I was almost picked pocket during my trip to Rome. It was a rush-hour of subway, so the car I was riding was very crowded. While I was standing toward the door by the door, a girl was stacking in front of me even though there was a space behind her. However, I didn't suspect she was a pickpocket because she looked to be just a 13~14-year-old girl and white person with blond hair, wearing elegant clothes. I had a stereotype that It was Gypsies who stole something from tourists. That's why I was totally off my guard and I just found out she was a criminal after she ran away. Afterward, I remember that when I pulled my bag I felt a strange feeling like my bag was caught on something. Looking back, I guess she was trying to open my bag.
