Roza: Whereas if you say, I'll be there until seven, means, you are there and you are continuing will continue to be there until seven. And then, you'll go.

Roza: I do and I'd also like to add that I really think the that our textbook is very useful in this because it has so many drawings of the images of the words that we are talking about, which is a really big help, I think.

Tessa: Yuta、あなたの友達のKayleyはどこ？

Yuta, where is your friend, Kayley?

Yuta: 実は、吉祥寺駅で僕に会うように言ったんだけど、もう公園にいうというメッセージを受け取ったんだ。

Tessa: こんなにたくさんの人たちの中で誰かを見つけるなんて大変だわ。

Yuta: もしもし、Kayley。いま、どこにいるんだい？

Hi, Kayley. Where are you now?

Kayley: もしもし、Yuta。ごめんなさい。私、いま三鷹駅にいるの。

Hi, Yuta. I'm sorry, but I'm now at Mitaka Station.

Yuta: 三鷹だって？君は乗り越しているよ。僕たちは吉祥寺で会うことになっているんだよ。

Mitaka? You went too far. We are supposed to meet at Kichijoji. 

Kayley: ええ、それは分かっているわ。新宿駅で列車を乗り換えたんだけど、違う列車に乗ってしまったの。

Yes, I know that. I changed trains at Shinjuku Station, but I got on the wrong train.

Yuta: ああ、たぶん、特別快速に乗ったんだね。それは、吉祥寺には止まらないんだ。

Chris: Sure. Imagine you are in a supermarket and you see, "oh, they are selling these carots at five dollars a kilo".

Roza: That's cheap.

Chris: Exactly.

Sensei: So, why is "in" used here in this sentence, I mean?

Chris: What Well, you imagine the whole of Shinjuku station as a kind of container with shops and things everywhere. So "in" Shinguku station ??? ??? works well here.

Roza: That's rihgt. You are Going around inside the station to the shops and shopping there.

I changed trains at Shinguku station.

EXPRESS YOURSELF IN ENGLISH!

John's having a party at his house this Saturday.

Sensei: So, why is "at" used here?

Roza: Well, because you are kind of picturing John's house like a dot on the map, right? So, like we mentioned before, "at" is a dot. So that's why it's John's having a party AT his house.

My flight leaves at 1:50 pm.

Sensei: So, the preposition here should be "at" 1:50, right? 

Chris: Exactly. I mean, once again the basic image is a dot or a point. My flight leaves not 1:45, not 1:55, but (pop) 1:50.

Sensei: So, image is important, right?

Roza: It is. And even as a native speaker, we kind of know instinctively the image of the words, but when we think about it, it's really amazing how you can really understand the meaning of the word from the image.

Chris: That's right. Even small words like propositions like "in", "at", they have a specific meaning. And We can learn this meaning through image and then we will be able to use it in everyday conversation.

Roza: I'm so excited for this year.

Chris: Calm down, Roza.
