Tsuyu-梅雨（つゆ）-
The climate of Japan is basically temperate but varies.
Because Japan stretches a great distance from north to south.
And there are also four distinct seasons in Japan.
We call it Shiki(four-seasons)
Shiki contains Haru(spring),Natsu(summer),Aki(autumn) and Huyu(winter).
In early spring ,you can see beautiful cherry blossoms.
And at the cold winter,we experience a snow fall in many places in Japan.
By the way, do you know Japan has a rainy season in June-July?
It called Tsuyu(plum-rain)named after a season of plum.
It lasts from early june to mid-july in japan.
but its exact end differ from place to place.
In Okinawa (located in south of japan) it starts from mid-May.
but in north of japan like Tohoku region, it starts from almost a month later.
Furthermore, Hokkaido which is the northernmost island of japan is said that
there is no rainy season there.
(someone in Hokkaido says they have also much rain than usual, but it's not called Tsuyu)
I say yes that Tsuyu has a kind of good atmosphere and good season.
But nothing dries out well such rainy days. Laundry piles up easily.
Dryers are active and never stop during the season.
It's my personal impression, but it is no exaggeration to say
that we can call this season "a season for clothes dryers" I think：）
日本の気候は基本的に温暖ですが、さまざまです。
なぜかというと、日本は北から南までかなりの距離があるからです。
そして日本には四つの季節があります。これを四季（四つの季節）と呼びます。
四季は春・夏・秋・冬があり、
春の早い時期にはとてもきれいな桜の花が見れます。
寒い冬には日本のたくさんの場所で降雪を経験します。
ところで日本には雨季があるのをご存知でしょうか？（6月-7月です）
それは梅の季節にちなんで梅雨（つゆ）と呼ばれる季節です。
それは6月上旬から7月中旬まで続きます。ですが、正確な時期は場所によって異なります。
沖縄では（日本の南部にあります）梅雨は5月中旬から始まります。
でも東北地方のような日本の北側では、ほとんど一か月遅れで始まります。
さらには、日本の一番北にある北海道には梅雨が無いと言われています。
（北海道でも雨は大めに降りますが、梅雨とは呼ばれないようです）
梅雨にはちょっとした雰囲気もありいい季節だと思いますが、
雨が多いので洗濯は乾きにくいです。洗濯物は簡単に溜ってしまいます。
乾燥機は大活躍でずっと動いています。
ですからこの季節は「乾燥期」といっても過言ではないのではないでしょうか。
