Iron Maiden Win Grammy
for Best Metal Performance
Although they've been nominated for Grammy awards twice before, it looks like three times was a charm for Iron Maiden. The British sextet just won the Best Metal Performance Grammy for their 2010 single, 'El Dorado.' Although the Grammy award was handed out in an untelevised ceremony before the main awards broadcast, the large crowd of industry players in attendance showed respect for the metal titans with a huge round of cheers and applause. Jazz vocalist and ceremony host Bobby McFerrin accepted the award on Iron Maiden's behalf.
With other Best Metal Performance Grammy nominees including Slayer, Megadeth, Lamb of God and Korn, it was packed with titans of the genre. But it was Iron Maiden's year, and who are we to complain? Their 'The Final Frontier' album found the legends in fighting form -- with some of the most inspired songwriting of their five-decade career.
