In October of 2017, I declared the opioid crisis a national Public Health Emergency. This declaration was just one of many steps that my Administration has taken to address this crisis. Over two years, we have secured $6 billion in funding to help us combat this epidemic, including $930 million in grants awarded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Yesterday, I proudly signed into law the SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act.
