吉田氏が済州鳥で慰安婦を強制連行したとする証言は虚偽だと判断し､配事を取り消します｡当時､虚偽の証言を見抜けませんでした｡済州島を再取材しましたが､証言を裏付ける話は得られませんでした｡研究者への取材でも証言の核心部分についての矛盾がいくつも明らかになりました｡

Dear readers,
We have regarded as false Mr. Yoshida's testimony to [the Japanese Army’s] taking comfort women by force in Jeju Island, and withdrawn the articles. At that time, we failed to notice that the testimony was false. We could not find any evidence to support the testimony even through our interviews performed again in Jeju Island. Interviews with researchers also revealed a number of contradictions in the core of the testimony.
