What’s going on here in Malaysia...
I used to live in a flat just in front of the company I work with my two co-workers.It was nice comfy place to live. However, it was two weeks ago when I was preparing for going on a trip to Penang island.
A strange guy came to our house and tried to break into, shouting, “Hey!! Open the door”. Luckily, in Malaysia, we have two doors. One is normal door and another one is iron-barred door. He had been there for more than 30min, and my flat mate and I got so scared.
As we didn't know what to do, we called our boss. Our boss was so kind and nice to call security office and came to our house to check it out thought it was almost midnight on Friday.
However, by the time they came, the guy had already run away.
We checked the CCTV (security camera) at the security office on the next day, but we couldn't recognise who did it.
Now we moved into other condominium with stronger security.
Another story from my co-worker. Three years ago, one of my Japanese co-worker got his both arms cut by a stranger in front of his condominium. It was when he finished his night shift and was on the way back to his house at 6:30 in the morning. Suddenly, a stranger with a saw caught him and cut his arms. His arm was barely connected but bones got broken.
Another story from my trainer experienced. 3 years ago, when my trainer had a couple of drinks and was on the way back to her house, she was followed by a guy with a saw. He started to run trying to kill her with the saw. She got so scared, but she managed to escape from him.
Basically it is said that Malaysia is a relatively safe country and it is true. But in some places, like the area I live, you really need to be careful. Especially, foreigner can be their targets to be nubbed, murdered and raped more.
Though I wrote some negative incidents in Malaysia about safety, there are so many positive sides too. What I need is just to adjust myself to the environment I am.
