The other day my flatmate and I had a short trip to Penang island.

Its one of the most popular sight seeing places in Malaysia known by many Japanese people.

Since we live in Malaysia and we havent got much money, we decided to go there by bus operated by a company Nice.

The bus leaves from KL sentral (Kuala Lumpur central) to Penang island. It takes 5-6 hours (depending on the traffic jam). It is literally a really nice bus. The seats are quite big and each seat has TV. So you can just relax by watching films and playing games.

Bus

It cost only RM150 (Around 5,000JPY) return. If you want to go to Penang island from KL, I highly recommend to use Nice Bus. You can book the ticket with this website.

Once we arrived there, it started raining heavily. However, it was just a squall (heavy rain in South Asian countries), so it stopped soon. The hotel we booked was in the town called George town.

It was lovely and comfy hotel run by an English man and his Chinese Malaysian wife. The inside was cute and cosy.

The whole town is registered as world heritage. Its an artistic attractive town with lots of wall paintings. So once you start walking, you can immediately find some wall paintings.

Beautiful mosque

The food in Penang island is also awesome! Basically, they have 3 different kind of food just like other Malaysian area; Chinese, Malay and Indian. However, the food in Penang island was totally amazing compared to other places in Malaysia.

What we had was...

fresh fruit juice (they have water melon, pear, coconuts, pine apple, orange, carrot, mango etc...)

Chinese noodle

Asam Laksa (Malaysian famous noodle)

Spring rolls

Chinese porridge

Chicken rice

We also went to the beach (of course!) and we tried para-sailing. As we asked discount (we actually didnt have much money left at that time lol), they offered us to do RM80/person (Around 2,500JPY) for both para-sailing and water jet ski.

Penang island became one of my favorite places to visit.

I highly recommend to visit the island if you have a chance to come to Malaysia~~~
