maggots for brains
Yesterday during the end of the roadtrip I was in, I finally gave in and decided it would be a good idea to go see the lake with my friends, as the sun was setting and the sky dyed itself of that really blue color, like after golden hour blue, and I thought it would be a wasted opportunity not to see the lake given the scenery. I had a great time and in the way back to my friend's place, there was this song playing in the car. I don't know how to explain it but it felt good to finally discover a song that describes how it feels to be so attached to something it kinda hurts, or at least, makes you feel like you got no other purposes besides that specific thing that comes to your mind. In my very personal case, I related this song to a various list of personal experiences, as it has always been hard for me not to think about different situations that I already experienced when listening to music, its a very shared, similar feeling so its good to see all you feel has a musical interpretation, its such a good feeling. ![]()
[Verse 1]
My day was so mundane, I don't think I left the house
Drank a pot of coffee, tried to write, nothing came out
Somehow, it's the weekend, I'm still bored out of my skull
And I went to a party but only on principle
[Pre-Chorus]
Empty, look at me
[Chorus]
I'm a zombie in my body, I'm a train off of the track
I feel dirty, I feel rotten, and the colors are all flat
I'm a sad shell of a woman and I've got maggots for brains
But that's just the thing that happens when my
When my baby goes away
[Post-Chorus]
When my baby goes away
He goes away
[Verse 2]
Everything feels moldy like the fruit that's in my fridge
And everything that's funny, I wish I could tell to him
And sometimes, at a low point, I even wish for a tragedy
'Causе I know he'd come over and takе real good care of me
[Pre-Chorus]
It's weird, he's not here
He goes away, oh
[Bridge]
What can I do
But think of you?
But think of you?
What can I do
But think of you?
But think of you?
[Chorus]
I'm a zombie in my body, I'm a train off of the track
I feel dirty, I feel rotten, and the colors are all flat
I'm a sad shell of a woman and I've got maggots for brains
But that's just the thing that happens when my
When my baby goes away
[Outro]
What can I doBut think of you?
But think of you?
What can I do
But think of you?
But think of you?
