I went to a three-day cycling training camp in I
The last dayA staff of the hotel said that we usually can see the Mount Fuji through the terrace window, but we couldn't see the Mount Fuji for three days. This was my morning plate. The last day's course was the Jyorennotaki Falls, the Modern Japanese Literature Museum, the Amagi Tunnel, Shimoda, the Kurofune and West Izu seashore,We had many destinations so we should hurry up.There is a bronze statue of the dancer of Izu near the Jyorennotaki Falls. The Jyorennotaki Falls was under the road. We just walked only on the steps. There is no elevator, or escalator. There are about 150 steps leading down to the Jyorennotaki Falls. It was fine on the way there, but it was terrible on the way back. The Jyorennotaki Falls was very beautiful and wonderful. I was moved by the volume of water in the river despite of no rain. Please enjoy the sound of the falls.Do you feel cool? The song"Amagi goe" put the Jyorennotaki Falls on the map.Sayuri Ishikawa is my favorite singer. The Japanese horseradish field spread out before us.Some people were fishing for Japanese Amago. We arrived at the modern Japanese Literature Museum.I think Izu is a treasure trove of Japanese Literature, because many novels take place in Izu.There were six heroines as the dancer of Izu, from Kinuyo Tanaka, Hibari Misora,Haruko Wanibuchi, Sayuri Yoshinaga, Yoko Naitou and Momoe Yamaguchi. After Momoe, 45 years passed, but new dancer of Izu have never been produced yet.Yasushi Inoue's parental home was a doctor who lived in Amagi Yugashima.Yasunari Kawabata went to Izu when he was 19, and met a dancer. She was 14.Have you ever read the novel, "Kaishi" written by Takehiko Fukunaga? It was my favorite novel.Seika Mayama, Seiichi Funahashi, Yuzo Yamamoto and Yasue Yamamoto,Kidou Okamoto " Shuzenji Monogatari"Kyoshi Takahama, Kensaku Shimaki,Ryunosuke Akutagawa,Four Novelists took a trip to Izu together.Katai Tayama, Toson Shimazaki, Ariake Kanbara, Musouan Takebayashi,Soseki NatsumeHe almost died of stomach disease. The old house of Yasushi Inoue was brought here and reconstructed from Amagi Yugashima. The lady in the picture was his grandmother, Kano. She was the mistress of his great-grandfather, and when he was a child he lived with her in Amagi Yugashima. We arrived at new Amagi Tunnel. We looked up the old Amagi Tunnel on the map.The guidebook said that we can't pass through the old Amagi Tunnel, but we tried. This is the old Amagi Tunnel. It was tunneled under the Amagi pass in 1905.The inside was very dark and narrow. We could see the opposite exit.It was not so long.I was waiting for a dancer of Izu for a while, but anybody didn't appear from the Tunnel. This is the monument of tangible cultural properties. We arrived at Shimoda.Commodore Matthew Perry came to Shimoda for the conclusion of the Japan-U.S. Treaty of Amity and Friendship with seven black ships in 1854.We got on board the black shipShimoda is surrounded by hills on three sides, so it is a good port. This ship has paddle wheels on both sides like the old black ship. The open sea is the Pacific Ocean and it go to the U.S.I wanted to meet "Tojin Okichi", Kichi Saito. She was Townsent Harris's girl friend. There is well known Shimoda Burger in Shimoda. It was very big and delicious, but a little expensive.I recommend Shimoda Burger. It is deep-fried splendid alfonsino. If you have it, you will be surely satisfied with the taste.Young people had the Burger. There were many car license plates on the wall.We passed through west Izu seashore on my way home from Shimoda, but I couldn't see the Mount Fuji.A Venus by the roadside saw us off with smile.Thank you for readingSee you againKazu.
