I picked up the delegation in front of the Midtown Hotel after I got up 6:30 am. Then firstly, we headed to the hotel which was famous fot its palatable breakfast. For a while, we took a walk in Boston public garden and enjoyed the morning in Boston. After a while, we arrived at the hotel and were fully satisfied with delicious breakfast.
From there, I took them to Northeastern University by Green Line. With in 20 minutes, we got to the University and initailly I took and introduce them to my supervisor Justion. With Justin, I briefly explained the summery of NU and Center for Student Academic Services. Subsequently, I took them to admission office to participate in visitor's campus tour for them. In the tour, the student ambassador introduca the campus really well and fortunatelly, she was highly interested in Japan through her experience staying in Japan. We went around the campus such as dormitories, Marino Center, Curry Student Center and Snell Library. Especaially, it seems that the dorm highly impressed them with its facilities for the students activities and life.
For the lunch, we went to the international villege. The delegation was seemed tired with tight schedule and jet lag by long journey from Japan to Boston via Arizona within short period, thus I supposed them to take lunch break as longly as they can. After the break, we returned to our office and use rest rooms. In our office, Justin suddenly proposed to meet our boss Mary and he quickly asked her to have a small meeting with us, however, I was merginally upset since I was not poised at all. I called the delegation and took them to Mary with sourvenirs from Japan (To present sourvenir is typicall convention for international exchange.) As I expected, our delegation felt it difficult to ask questions without any contexts and preparetion, so I asked some questions as a represent of the delegation.
We transfered to Global Village to attend the freshman seminar which were organised by Justin and me. In the seminar, we listened to the students panel, albeit it was difficult to listen to and understan their English. Some students asked the delegation about their paner, but we could not answer their question completely since did not have enough English proficiency to understand their English. However, we had an opportunity to discussion with the students about the topics on NU such as the reason why they choose the university, their prospective career path, with three studendts namely Sam, Lucy and Dora.
Again, we went back to my office. The delegation were really astonished by the indepencency of the staff working at the university in the US. In my office, I explained my project in NU.
Then we went to the Museum of Fine Arts adjacent to the university. The university was quite close to the universtiy notwithstanding, it was also my first time to visit there. In addtion to the regular exhibition, the special exhibition of the modern Japanese arts reminded me my life in Japan.
To have a diner, we took them to the seafood restaurant to enjoy the local feature. I could not understand the waiter saying about the availabilty notwithstanding, we finally had our seat for diner. We really enjoyed local features such as row oysters, grilled robsters. After the diner, I introduced the jazz bar near the hotel and apartment, but unfortunatelly it was full. We gave up today's show and went back to the hotel and apartment, respectively.
