R.I.P Asami #Repost @961wefm with @repostapp. The PCS Nitrogen Silver Stars Family will host a prayer service at their Pan yard at #56 Tragarete Road *(next to Republic Bank) on Thursday night to celebrate the life of Asami Nagakiya. It begins at 7pm. Tributes continue to pour in for Asami, a Japanese musician who was one of the foremost players of the steeplan in Japan, joined the Silver Star Steel Orchestra in 2012 and played with them for the Panorama 2016 competition. She was found dead on Wednesday morning, at the Queen’s Park Savannah. It was the first time that she played mas and friends recalled that she passed by the Panyard on Tuesday evening, before she left to meet someone. Asami was described as “a truly beautiful, and gentle soul who was one of our most dedicated players, she would practice diligently from early in the afternoon and remained at practice until it ended in order to perfect the tune." “Her talent and hard work made her the excellent tenor player that she was and had a special relationship with each and every person in the band." Cary Codrington described her as “one of his daughters” noting that “the music of your voice, the dance of your smile, the light of your eyes, they have become silent.” Photo courtesy Silver Stars.
