There is a saying that goes, "Drive those who have left our group to commit suicide."
Buddhist punishment is something that Buddha bestows. It is not something that humans bestow.
The Buddha himself will correct those who do not comply with the Buddha's will. Until then, the way forward is for those around them to be patient and wait for the Buddha to show results.
When humans try to drive someone to misfortune or suicide, especially when they try to do so without the world finding out, they have to do things that are extremely degrading to humanity and lacking in dignity.
People who try to bestow Buddhist punishment on those who have left the group or their enemies do not seem to have true faith.
The Buddha will bestow Buddhist punishment.
It seems that they do not believe that.
