Mari Hamada is a professional Japanese female rock singer, songwriter, and self-producing artist.
She debuted in 1983, and became known for a long time as the "Heavy-Metal Queen".
She has been making her albums in the Unites States with various world famous musicians and engineers since her 7th album, "In The Precious Age" which was produced by Mike Clink and her in 1987.
Mari has had a number of hit albums in Japan, including "Tomorrow", "Anti-Heroine", "Inclination", and "Return To Myself", among several others during the course of her career. Also her single "Return To Myself" was a number 1 hit on the Japanese music charts as well.
She has released big hit ballads such as "Hold On" and "Fixing A Broken Heart"with Indecent Obsession in South-East Asia on MCA International during the 1990's. Additionally, she was the biggest selling artist of MCA in Asia in the early 90's. She released "Introducing...Mari Hamada" thru out South-East Asia and Europe. Mari was the first Japanese female solo singer to tour Europe during the 1990's.
Mari has released albums consistently over the last 35 years. And now in 2018, she has started her 35th anniversary album project. She recently signed to JVC records this year and has been making her 26th record album in Los Angeles, California and Tokyo, Japan. Her 35th Anniversary tour will start in October in 2018.

大学時代に参加した女性ロックバンド「Misty Cats」が"East West'81"東京ブロックに出場し、スカウトされる。
83年4月、アルバム『Lunatic Doll』でデビュー。数多くのコンサートツアーとコンスタントなアルバムリリースにより、本格派女性ロックヴォーカリスト、ヘヴィメタルの女王としての地位を確立。発表するアルバムは当時のヘヴィ・ロックシーンでは異例のベスト10入りを果たすようになる。
87年よりレコーディングの拠点をL.A.に移し、海外のトップミュージシャンとのコラボレートが始まる。それと同時にそれまでのハードロック色の強い作品だけでなく、より幅の広い音楽性を発揮しはじめる。
88 年、ソウルオリンピックのNHKイメージソングとなった『Heart and Soul』がシングルとしては初のベスト10入りし、一気にナショナルアーティストとしての認知を得る。翌89年にリリースした『Return To Myself』はシングル・アルバム共にチャート1位を獲得。90年にはTOTOのメンバーとのライヴセッションやL.A.のライヴハウス「Roxy」でのライヴを成功させる。国内では、恒例となった武道館公演を含む全国ツアーをアルバムリリース毎に敢行し、内外で精力的な活動を続ける。
93年、MCA Internationalと世界契約。アジアを中心とした海外でも活動するようになる。94年、ヨーロッパに進出。KIM WILDとともにヨーロッパツアーを敢行。国内ではアルバム『Anti-Heroine』、『Inclination 』がチャート1位に。英語詞のバラード『Hold On』、Indecent Obsessionとのデュエット曲『Fixing A Broken Heart』がシンガポールをはじめアジア各国でロングヒット。
97 年のレコード会社移籍に伴い活動が一時停滞し、コンサート休止期間に入るも、アルバムリリースを柱とした音楽制作をコンスタントに続け、2002年にはライヴ活動も再開。精力的な音楽活動が戻る。デビュー20周年、25周年、30周年と、スペシャルコンサート、ツアーを行い、発表された各コンサート映像作品やベストアルバム「Inclination」シリーズ他、各オリジナルアルバム「Aestetica」「Legenda」「Mission」も大好評を得る。 来たる35周年はビクターエンタテイメントに移籍。26作目の新作アルバムリリースとライブツアーに期待が高まる。
