After long break I found the ID and password for this blog started six years ago so am planning to start using it again. Much has happened in the past few months, retirement, visitors from abroad, a wedding and a birth. I need a little time to think.

Three days in San Francisco.
Muir Woods
Across the Golden Gate Bridge
and about 12 miles north of the city
is Muir Woods. This is a forest of
Redwood trees, the tallest is over 252 feet
and the widest over 14 feet. Many are between
500 and 800 years old and there are a few over
a thousand years old. Great to see them.
Sorry about the picture!
We also visited Sausalito which is a small
rather modern and boutique filled village
on the north side of the bay and just below
the Golden Gate Bridge.
This trumpet player was one of the many street musicians
we met while shopping and using the cable cars.
We spent three days in San Francisco, riding the
cable cars, shopping and dining at Fishermans Wharf
and visiting a Picasso exhibition.
I liked the bronze statue of a goat.
The oil painting entitled "Musician" and mostly in
black and white, I thought looked like a wild boar.
"Massacre in Korea" (1951) was a powerful piece.
"Nude in Garden" (1934) looked like a huge pink rabbit
eating a lettuce leaf.
Well, I think there is much about Picasso and his work
that I don't understand.
After S.F. we flew to Florida to visit our grandson,
but that's another story.
I hope you are also enjoying the summer.
